Jaipur: The state government will hold re-election on three seats of JMC-Greater after it suspended three councillors on Monday.
According to an order issued by the local self-government department, BJP councillors Paras Jain from ward 72, Ajay Singh from ward 39 and independent councillor Shankar Sharma from ward 103 have been suspended after they were guilty in a judicial inquiry in a case of misbehaviour with a former official of JMC-Greater. The three councillors have been debarred from contesting elections for next six years.
The state government is likely to take a decision for the position of JMC-Greater mayor Somya Gurjar too, but action will be taken only after the report of the judicial inquiry is presented in the Supreme Court. The three councillors were first suspended in June last year by the then commissioner of JMC-Greater.
After this, the state government had started a judicial inquiry the report for which was presented earlier this month.
