Rajasthan: Wedding off after army man’s family demands Rs 11 lakh dowry in Alwar | Jaipur News

ALWAR: A high-voltage drama played out in Alwar after the family of a man posted in the armed forces demanded Rs 11 lakh dowry before the wedding.
Alwar police said the incident took place in Shahpur Dehra village when Rakesh Yadav (23) was to get married to Monika, a resident of Neemrana. However, the groom’s family allegedly called up the bride’s father Ashok Yadav before the wedding and demanded Rs 11 lakh and a bike.
As per the officials, the incident took place on Wednesday when the bride’s family went to Rakesh’s house for a pre-wedding ritual. There, the groom’s family again repeated their demand for the money. The villagers and relatives of the bride tried to pacify the groom that they should not increase their demand now that the wedding has been finalised for Friday.
