Rajasthan moves closer to regularising services of govt’s contractual staff | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: The state government on Saturday approved the proposal to implement Rajasthan Contractual Hiring to Civil Post Rules, 2022, in the state. These rules will be applicable to 1.10 lakh contractual employees in various departments of the state government.
With the implementation of these rules, the recruitment of contractual employees in the state will be more transparent and the concerns of reservation in the recruitment process will also be taken care of. Contractual employees who work for five years can be made permanent after screening and in future if those posts become regular, said officials.
The honorarium of contractual employees has been fixed by considering the salaries paid for their equivalent permanent posts apart from the provisions of special pay protection. On being regularised, these personnel will be given OPS benefits, too, added officials.
According to a government release, the approved rules will benefit 41,423 contractual employees in the education department, including shiksha karmis, para-teachers, gram panchayat assistants, MG English medium teachers; 18,326 of Rajivika and MNREGA under the rural development and panchayati raj departments; 5,697 madrassa para-teachers of the minority welfare department; and 44,833 contractual employees of the medical and health department and the medical education department.
While several committees were formed from time to time to regularize contractual employees of the state government, their problems could not be resolved permanently. In the 2021-22 state budget, the CM had announced the creation of a department-wise cadre of contractual employees. He announced a 20 per cent hike in their honorarium in the 2022-23 budget.
