Police Plan To Beef Up Security Around Temples, Garba Grounds | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: With footfalls at temples, garba grounds and marketplaces expected to rise this year after the Covid-induced slowdown in the past two years, the city police plan to deploy additional personnel at these sites ahead of the festival season beginning from Monday.
Home guards and additional police personnel would be drawn from the lines for the festival security, said additional commissioner of police, Kailash Chand Bishnoi.
“Traffic police personnel will also be posted at important markets where the volume of vehicular traffic increases during the festive period,” he added.
During Navratri, traffic congestions increase at places like Raja Park, JLN Marg, Malviya Nagar and in Walled City areas. The traffic police are also likely to make diversions at important routes in the coming days. “There are important temples in Jaipur where many hundreds of devotees gather every year on auspicious occasions,” said an official, adding that the local police will be given additional deployment for security purposes.
Ahead of Navratri and Diwali, special checking and patrolling will also be initiated in every police station area. All SHOs have been asked to remain vigilant about suspicious activities in their areas, said the official. Hotels will also be under the police scanner. “As per the standard procedure, all hotels and rest houses are intensively searched ahead of important festivals to make sure that no suspects find shelter there,” said an official. In the runup to Dussehra, security will be tightened around all grounds to ensure that large gatherings are managed well, traffic on nearby roads runs smoothly, and an eye is kept on suspects in those areas.
