Cm Patronises Illegal Mining Mafia, Says Bjp’s Arun Singh | Jaipur News

Jaipur: BJP national general secretary Arun Singh on Wednesday accused CM Ashok Gehlot of patronizing the “illegal mining mafia involving his ministers” in the sacred 84 Kos Parikrama area in Bharatpur.
Singh said this at a press conference held at the BJP headquarters in Delhi after presenting the report of the party’s fact-finding committee about the self-immolation death of Mahant Vijay Das to BJP national president JP Nadda. Das immolated himself at Pasopa village in Bharatpur on July 20 while demanding a ban on mining in the sacred Braj area. “The Congress government did nothing to stop illegal mining in the state, which forced Sant Vijay Das ji to self-immolate and lay down his life to save the sacred hills from illegal mining,” said Singh.
Targeting Kaman MLA and minister of state for education, Zahida Khan, Singh said, “There are reports that minister Zahida Khan and her son Sajid Khan had pressurised the local administration to allow rampant illegal mining in the sacred area. It is also reported that Khan has two mining contracts. This exposes the fact that the government is patronizing illegal mining through contractors and transporters its ministers.”
Expressing alarm over the deterioration of the sacred place, Singh said, “During our visit, we could see that areas falling under the 84 Kos Parikrama in the Braj area, especially the two sacred hills—Adi Badri and Kankanchal—have suffered massive illegal mining to such a level that they have been flattened.”
