Former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi had a hilarious take after Shaheen Shah Afridi was ruled out of Asia Cup 2022 due to a knee injury. The veteran conducted a Question and Answer session on Twitter on Sunday, August 21.

During this while, one of the fans asked if he could come out of retirement since Shaheen wouldn’t be taking part in the upcoming T20 tournament in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

“Lala, Shaheen is injured, so please come out of retirement,” the fan took to Twitter and wrote.

Replying to the fan, Afridi said that he repeatedly told left-arm pacer Shaheen to not dive in order to avoid a major injury.

Afridi replied to the fan and wrote, “I told him earlier to not dive since he is a fast bowler and diving could cause injury. But later I realised that even he is an Afridi.”

Earlier, Shaheen sustained the injury during Pakistan’s opening Test against Sri Lanka earlier this year in Galle. Thereafter, he was ruled out of the second Test of the series.

Despite his injury concerns, Pakistan named him in the squad for the ODI series against Netherlands and the Asia Cup. Babar Azam, the Pakistan skipper, also said that the team would be looking to keep Afridi fit for the mega event in the UAE.

However, to their dismay, Shaheen failed to attain the desired fitness levels. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is yet to name Shaheen’s replacement. Naseem Shah, Mohammad Wasim Jr, Shahnawaz Dahani and Haris Rauf are currently the four pacers in the Pakistan squad.
