2 cops suspended over gay relations in Rajasthan | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: An SHO and a constable in Rajasthan were suspended on Tuesday after videos purportedly depicting their gay relationship went viral on social media.
The SHO and the constable are posted at Degana police station and were suspended by the Nagaur SP. The suspended SHO, Gopal Krishna Chaudhary, has filed an FIR at Khinsvar police station alleging that constable Pradeep Chaudhary had been blackmailing him to extort money or he would make the videos viral.
“In the FIR, he accused Pradeep of extorting Rs 2. 5 lakh. Initially Gopal paid heed to all the extortion demands of the accused, but when Chaudhury asked for Rs 5 lakh and a vehicle, the victim approached me and gave a written complaint,” Nagaur SP Ram Murty Joshi said. The police authorities knew the two men had shared a gay relationship.
“Since both of them have put a dent in the image of the Rajasthan police (sic), both have been suspended till further orders. An FIR has been lodged and the accused constable has been arrested under appropriate sections of the IPC,” said a senior Nagaur police officer.
According to the police, the SHO and the constable became friends on a social networking site eight months ago. “It is also known that both were into physical relationship,” said a senior officer. The SHO has also alleged that the constable recorded many videos and had been blackmailing him.
